Hi There Again,
Today I will be showing you some basic tips to get you started in uploadig files to your hosting server. This can seem like a daunting task, but with the right tools it is actually quite simple.
A fabulous program is Filezilla – an Open Source FTP application with all the features of a paid program. Thank you to the numerous developers who put this fantastic program together.
You can download Filezilla here – http://filezilla-project.org/ For this tutorial you will need to download Filezilla Client.
Once you have downloaded and installed Filezilla, launch the program to explore the possibilities.
You will be greeted with the screen shown below;
You will need your web hosting FTP details – these should have been included on your welcome email from your web host, if not contact your provider for more details.
These details are entered in the login box across the top of the screen (As shown in red in the screen shot above)
Click QuickConnect to log on to your server. The program will remember your details for next time too!
The files on your server will now be shown on the right hand side of the screen (As shown in green in the screen shot above)
Click on the folder icons to get to the folder where you would like to upload your file – as a guide your website will normally be located in the public_html folder.
By clicking the folder icons on the left hnd side of the screen you will be able to navigate through the files on your computer to find the file you would like to upload.
Once you have located the file, right click and click upload.
