In the process of setting up BearCart you will no doubt be looking at what payment options are available for your business, well we hope so anyway.

BearCart has a huge range of payment methods pre-installed including; Paypal, Bank Deposit (Australian), Cheque / Money Order and Cash on Delivery. BearCart is also compatible with eWay payments (Please request this as part of your website development)

Now to the tutorial…Setting up your payment options!

We will start with the most popular payment method – Paypal.

In the Admin area of BearCart click the “Modules” link in the left hand menu. A drop down box will include the following options;

• Payment (This is what we will be using today)
• STS (This controls our template for the site – all modifications will be made to this by Morris Bear Designs)
• Shipping (This will be one of our next tutorials – how to setup shipping options for your online store)
• Order Total (This controls how your online shop processes the order amounts for your online store)

Click the Payment link to begin…

You will now be presented with the options available for your store (See screenshot below)

Click the Paypal Website Payments Standard link from the list shown. This will bring up all of the configuration options for accepting Paypal payments through your online store.

Enter your paypal registered email here

Payment Zone
If a zone is selected, only enable this payment method for that zone.

Not required however if you would only like to accept Paypal payments from a single country this can be specified here. Contact Morris Bear Designs for more help with this.

Set Preparing Order Status
Set the status of prepared orders made with this payment module to this value

The default value here shows if a customer has clicked the payment button and not completed the payment. Good fo checking the progress of your orders. Changing this value is not recommended.

Set PayPal Acknowledged Order Status
Set the status of orders made with this payment module to this value

The default value will change in your orders panel once the payment is completed. Changing this value is not recommended.

Gateway Server
Use the testing (sandbox) or live gateway server for transactions?

Set to Live

Transaction Method
The processing method to use for each transaction.

Set to Payment

Page Style
The page style to use for the transaction procedure (defined at your PayPal Profile page)

This can be modified at paypal.com.au or left blank.

Debug E-Mail Address
All parameters of an Invalid IPN notification will be sent to this email address if one is entered.

Used for testing.

Sort order of display.
Sort order of display. Lowest is displayed first.

By default this is set to 0 to show Paypal first.

Enable Encrypted Web Payments
Do you want to enable Encrypted Web Payments?

This and the remaining options are only used when an SSL certificate is installed.

Click Submit! Congratulations you have now enabled Paypal payments on your BearCart online shopping cart system.

The process for each payment method is quite similar and easy to follow.

The following tutorial will introduce you to adding stock options and how to track quantities within BearCart.

Onto the tutorial…

In the Catalog section in the Admin area, click Products Attributes.

The products attributes page is where your product options are listed. Options can be created based on your requirements and updated for single products.

Let’s begin the process…

As shown in the screen shot below, the top portion of this page shows the Product Options and Option Values. These two values combine to make your option available.

Product Options (shown in the red box)are the option name for example Size, Colour etc.
Option Values (shown in the green box) are the types for each option for example 2, Red etc.

To add a new Product Option fill in the name in the empty field, check if you would like to check stock on this option and click the insert button.

You will now need to add the types for this option.

To add a new Option Value select the Option Name from the drop down box enter the value in the empty field and click the insert button.

Congratulations, we are almost there.

To make sure that the products have these options available we will need to add the options to the products. This can be done in the lower section of the Products attributes page. (As shown on the above screen shot in the blue box)

From the  first drop down box select the product you would like to add an option to.
From the second drop down box select the Option Name that you would like to add.
From the third drop down box select the option value. This will need to be repeated for each value you would like to add to the product.
If additional costs apply for the option enter this in the empty value field, if no price changes leave this field empty.
Click Insert.

This process only needs to be repeated once for each product available. This will ensure that stock levels are checked for each product based on it’s options available.

In the Catalog > Products Pages there is a button shown for stock. (See screen shot below)

By clicking this button you will be taken to a stock control page (As shown in the screen shot below)

In the top drop down box select the product option and enter the quantity available.
Click add to update the stock.

The bottom section of this page will keep track of your stock, and will inform you if there are problems with the stock count.

Congratulations you have just added stock options to your products!

Adding categories and products to your store is easy using the BearCart Admin area. To get started we will look at the fields that we have and what they are used for.

In the Catalog section in the Admin area click Categories/Products.

This first page is where we add the main categories for the store. All of the current categories are listed and we can add another by clicking the New Category button.

A side panel will now appear prompting us to include details of the new category including;

Category Name – This is the name shown in our store.

Category Image - We are able to upload an image to be shown in the front page of our website. Usually this will be resized to 150px x 150px.

Sort Order – This box determines the order of our Categories. If left blank the categories will be ordered alphabetically.

Header Tags Category Title – This is the title shown in your browser window when looking at the category. This has been added to assist with Search Engine Optimisation.

Header Tags Category Description – This is the description that search engines will see for this category. It is good to add a short description of what the category is as it has been added to assist with Search Engine Optimisation.

Header Tags Category Keywords – These are the keyword that search engines will see for this category. Keywords can be listed individually separated by a comma (ie: keywords, like, this).

It is important to note that BearCart allows you to automatically add Descriptions, Keywords and Page Titles once your shop is ready to launch. For more details contact Morris Bear Designs.

Once you have filled in these fields click the save button to add your category.

Congratulations, you have just added a new category to your store.

Now on to your products…

By clicking the New Product button you are brought to the insert product page.

Product Status – This will automatically be set to In Stock, but it does allow you to set products as out of stock, preventing them from showing in the front end of your website.

Date Available – If a product is arriving to you store at a future date, you can save time by adding the product and setting an arrival date here. BearCart will automatically stock your product when the date arrives.

Products Manufacturer – This can be used for product manufacturers / brands or themes and gives you may display options in the front end of your website ie: See more from this manufacturer.

Products Name – This is the product name as shown in the front end of your website.

Tax Class – Can be set if products are taxable. Also set up for GST.

Products Price (Net) - The price of your goods shown with out tax.

Products Price (Gross) - If products are set as Taxable this will automatically add tax to the Net Price and show a final price.

Products Description – Add the description of your product here.

Product Title Tag, Product Description Tag, Product Keywords Tag are shown to Search Engines. These can be set automatically once your store is ready to launch.

Products Quantity – If using multiple sizes, colours etc. set the total number of items available.

Products Model – Insert a model number if needed.

Products Image - Up to 6 images can be uploaded for each picture.

Products URL – Can be set to link to a manufacturer website or review page for more information on the product. Not needed.

Products Weight - Adding the weight of each product will allow you to use the Shipping by weight method. Not needed.

Once all fields have been completed click the preview button to see how your product looks. Click the Insert button to complete the process.

Congratulations you have successfully added a new product to your website!

Configure Bear Cart - Updating your Online Store

Within the admin area of Bear Cart you will find all of the controls that run your website. To begin click the Configration tab and you will be presented with the above screen.

The following settings are required;

Store Name: This is your store name that will be used for all configuration throughout the site.

Store Owner: This can either be your name or repeat your store name here.

Email Address: This is the email address that your store emails will be sent to.

Email From: As above.

Country: This is set to show your store country and runs modifications such as postage and tax.

Send Extra Order Emails To: It is important to set this also to ensure that all of your store orders reach your email. It can also be set to include multiple email addresses simply by using a comma in between.

Store Address and Phone: This sets the details for your orders and invoices. If you don’t wish to use your physical address you can set this with your store name and email or contact phone number.

Once you have filled out the above details your store is configured and you are ready to move on to adding products. I told you it was easy!

Today we have a new tutorial using BearCart! Adding Discount Coupons is a fantastic feature of BearCart which allows you to add a fixed price or percentage based coupon code – Perfect as a special offer for subscribers, advertisement and much more…

Adding A Coupon in BearCart

To begin login to your Admin area and click on the Customers section, within this section you will find a link to the Coupon Admin.

Click Insert to begin adding a new coupon. You are then presented with a form to insert the details of your coupon.

Begin by inserting a Coupon code – this will be the code that your customers will add in the checout process. The code can be anything you like, however it is usually a good idea to make it something relating to your offer. For example if you are offering an exclusive discount for book subscribers you could call it Book.

Next is the coupon amount – this can be either a Fixed amount or Percentage discount as shown in the next drop down box. Select your discount type and then move on to Coupon Usage!

Coupons can be set for a single use per customer or for unlimited uses.

Once all of your details are added click the Save button to activate your coupon!

Congratulations, your coupon is now live!!
